about one year ago, a distant relative of mine, underwent a horrific experiance. it so happened, that when she went into labour with her first child, her doctor was not available, and the nurse induced painful contractions in the mother's uterus. unknown to the nurse was the fact that the mother had a weak pelvis and so a natural birth would kill her and her baby...and that, sadly, is precisely what happened.
although my sister, being a lawyer, gave the greiving family contacts to a lawyer who handled cases of medical negligance, the sorrow ran so deep that no action was taken, i believe lack of awareness and education were also factors leading to the case being left untended by a proffessional in the field of law.
this is but one of many cases of medical negligance, not only common in a third world country such as Pakistan , but also in the developed world. i wish for this post to serve as a means for many people to realise the intensity of this form of malpractice.
please raise ur voice on any available forum...and let people know, that a white lab coat and a doctor's degree is not a license to destroy lives.
